Operate as part of a survey crew assisting in the duties of performing the fieldwork necessary for surveys including boundary/topographic surveys and construction staking. Ability to perform as part of a crew taking direction from the Survey Crew Leader. Must work outdoors and be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to use hand tools such as 3lb lump hammer and machete or bush axe. Must have the ability to learn on the job. Must be able to work outdoors in heat/cold and other environmental factors. Prior survey experience is a plus.

Survey Team Lead - Cary, NC

Overview: The role of the Survey Team Leader is to proactively coordinate with survey clients, project managers, project engineers, construction crews and company management to prioritize projects, distribute resources, and accomplish survey needs. The Survey Team Leader will oversee a variety of in-office tasks associated with land surveying and civil engineering projects and manage all survey operations. The Survey Team Leader will coordinate with sub consultants and procure or coordinate outside services to provide comprehensive survey documents for clients, engineers, design staff, and construction staff.

This position requires thorough knowledge of Land Surveying and engineering practices and techniques, as well as AutoCAD Civil3D/Carlson Civil Suite and graphics drafting skills. RLA Associates, PA Land Surveyors provides land surveying and consulting services in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Train assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps. Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) preferred, Field of Study: Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar degree type.
  • Experience: 10 plus years of experience in Land Surveying and/or Professional Licensure
  • Computer Skills: Trimble Instruments, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Carlson, Microsoft Office suite Certifications & Licenses: Professional License as Land Surveyor in North Carolina or in Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia with the ability to obtain a North Carolina licenses; NCEES Certification preferred.

Primary Purpose of Position      
The Department of Built Environment is accepting applications for two Part-Time Instructors for the Geomatic Program. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach courses in Geomatics/Land Surveying delivered by the Built Environment Department’s Geomatics program. The Department is currently looking for two candidates to teach a two course sequence in 1) Automated Surveying and Mapping (Fall) and Residential Subdivision Design (Spring); 2) Satellite Positioning (Fall) and Geodesy (Spring). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching online courses, willingness to participant in Learning Management Systems training, participating in data collection and assessment of student learning for ABET, and submitting teaching materials as part of semester review. Candidates will work closely with the Geomatics Coordinator for assessments as well as faculty with subject matter expertise.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Built Environment supports over 175 undergraduate majors in the programs of Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety and, Geomatics. The courses taught in the Geomatics program area are at the undergraduate level and include Automated Surveying and Mapping, Residential Subdivision Design, Geodesy and Satellite Positioning.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Geomatics or related discipline at time of application with five years’ experience in the profession of land surveying or related field. Sequence 1 requires experience in using AutoCAD Civil 3D for residential design and experience in designing subdivisions. Sequence 2 requires experience in using GNSS equipment and basic geodetic techniques.

Survey AutoCAD CADD Technician – Raleigh, NC

Job Summary:

SEPI Engineering & Construction, Inc. has an immediate need for a Survey CAD Technician in its Raleigh Survey Practice. In this position, the candidate will work directly with surveyors, engineers, and other technicians to assist in the development of survey plats, base maps and construction documents for a variety of projects in the private, state, municipal and federal sectors.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the production of maps and drawings

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Crew Chief with daily operations including; Boundary, Topographic and As-built Surveys; and Construction Layout. Competence with optical and digital instruments as well as handheld controllers and Data Collectors is required or expected to be accomplished within 90 days of employment.
